Dear friends; time passes. I should update our welcome greeting.|
It's been thirty years since we moved to Oregon from California when I brought out my first book, Useful Measurements for Violin Makers. Before that I had been an air force officer in Scotland, a telephony design engineer in San Francisco, and a violin maker in Novato, California.
My lovely wife Susan, a professional accountant, has for all that time been a patient and pleasant office manager and mother of our children.
Both my sons, Henry Jr and George, grew up and worked in the family violin shop, Henry Strobel & Sons. George is still involved but has moved to Florida while Henry Jr is my active business partner. He is a proven violin maker and repairman who now handles most of the routine sales and repairs, as well as working with Susan to fulfill your book orders. Our business is approximately half shop and half books.
I am not retiring from this work, but do find myself devoting more and more time to public service activities. The continued adoption of these books in the violin world is gratifying. My approach has been to provide timeless information that is essential, clear, orderly, even literate.
Thank you. Henry Strobel - 2012
